Minutes May 20 Community Response Meeting 6pm
May 21, 2025
Special thanks to Marika Olcott for her attendance last night extending Representative Olcott's support for our community.
Priorities:
- Victim advocacy
- Households displaced or having day-to-day activities disrupted
- GISD
- Debris management
- Brush
- Metal
- Trash
Decision:
- iSTAT will be our central repository for impacted households, their needs, and the status of fulfilling those needs. TDEM_iSTAT
- As we understand database can be exposed to entities like FBC.
- Targets:
- Wednesday am- Tool training for core team (Community Center 10am) Tavia, Kristen, Michelle are available and Tavia indicated she can find more so we are close to 10 individuals.
- Wednesday pm- Door-to-door household visits in the most impacted area (for locals, Louise Stoner’s home to Elm and Rouse home).
Action items:
Victim Advocacy
- Conduct iSTAT training (in progress) and complete registration of hardest hit areas by end of day Wednesday.
- Ensure iSTAT registration is communicated to larger population. There were 3 tornados and here is property damage north and west of town.
- Ensure local entities (churches, etc) can access and update iSTAT
- Decide on a Command Center. Community Center, Library, UMC office are offered as options.
Debris:
- Brush
- Extend hours to take debris to 4:30-8 (Sherrye, Jonathan). This would be monitoring only no unloading support. FYI a second pile will be started today.
- The current plan is to obtain permit from TCEQ to burn brush. Chad Jordan from PPCo Emergency Management and Rep. Olcott have offered support given the County declared emergency. (Teresa)
- Metal: Communicate that metal is being accumulated at GISD field house. (Sherrye)
- Trash: Continue to make roll-off dumpsters available (Teresa). Republic is bringing a bunch of replacement poly dumpsters.
Other:
- The City will get started on Thank you’s to the volunteers and donors over the weekend.
- With Wednesday being the last day meals will be served at Hink’s Sherrye will work on connecting local restaurant donations to targeted needs (workers, households).
