Emergency Response Update May 20 10am
May 20, 2025
The lower humidity felt very good this morning! Thank you volunteers! I know your muscles are feeling the hard work yesterday.
- Brush (no trash) can still be taken to the wastewater treatment plan on Cemetery Road until 4:30 today. Our Precinct Commissioner Jim Pollock has provided a chipper and City Staff is processing the limbs and helping with unloading, so thank you in advance for your patience.
- If you need chainsaw help contact Shelby at Hink’s and she will put you on the volunteer list.
- Leave manageable limbs by the road. We are trying to mobilize enough volunteers to pick them up.
- If you have more significant tree damage please go to First Baptist and submit a request for Texans on Mission (Baptists Men’s).
- Trash that you can transport and unload may be taken to the large dumpsters at the car wash.
- We are mobilizing a plan for large metal and trash that cannot easily be handled.
- Red Cross is set up to assign case workers to those in need. Call 800-RED-CROS (733-2767) or go to www.redcross.org and based on your location they will connect you with services.
- There will be breakfast lunch and dinner at Hink’s.
- There is a meeting at 6pm today at the Community Center to start setting up a Community Committee (churches, etc) to coordinate medium to long term needs and ensure there is neither overlap nor gaps.
- We understand power is back on but where there is damage to customer side residents may still be without power.
- More to follow on how to donate cash donations. Please get word out there is no need for water, Gatorade, food at this time.
I feel so privileged to live in this place with you. Please let us know what you need.
