City Notes July 10 - Brush drop for impacted residents ends Saturday

Thanks to everyone who came out for the 4th of July celebration or enjoyed fireworks from afar! We love putting on this event each year.

Sharing some updates:

Tornado Recovery

> Brush drop (no pallets or trash) will be open 1-4 through Satuday, July 12 at the wastewater treatment plant on Cemetery Road. This is available to Gordon City residents only.

> Roll-off dumpsters for tornado impacts households is moving from the railroad tracks to a new location east of Rusk and Walnut today. This is restricted to households impacted by the May 18 tornado. A private citizen has generously offered to let us use the location so thank you in advance for respecting privacy and not blocking traffic.

> The Disaster Case Manager will be reaching out to iSTAT listed contacts. She will be presenting unmet needs to donors who can assist.

> The City will continue to listen for needs related to debris and look for how we can help. Clean fill dirt to even out ruts due to heavy equipment has been raised and we are working on it.

> We know that many households still deal with day-to-day hardships from the storm and are committed to being here for you.

Water Line Improvement Project

> The Elm and North Walnut stretches are scheduled to be sanitized and activated by first of August. We have discussed with contractor needs to return ditches and parking lots to normal by this date.

> The W Rusk, W Travis, Pecan "U" is underway. This is also planned for completion by the first part of August and completion by the time school starts.

> The S Houston, Crockett, Walnut, E Travis stage is scheduled to start in early August. This will run in front of the VFD and requires bores under the RR tracks and Hwy 919.

> We appreciate  everyone's patience with this project. It replaces aged cast iron pipes.

Hwy 919 South Upgrade

> A line upgrade project sponsored by the development on I-20 is kicking off. This will be south of town toward Bar-B.

> We do not anticipate traffic or other disruptions.

City Update

> At 5pm on Monday, July 14 in advance of the regular City Council Meeting Mayor Mills will conduct an update.

> This will cover the fiscal year ending June 30 and other information of interest to residents and non-residents.

> We will also present balance for the citizen Recovery Fund and next steps for ling-term recovery.

> There will be a Q&A so participants to ask questions.
